Lilac, botanically known as Syringa vulgaris, the color of the oil originates from this shrubs flower, commonly seen as a light purple. Lilac essential oil is extracted from the fresh Leaves and fruit by steam distillation method and it is on the top of the perfumery note. Lilac essential oil is a natural anti-depressant and has an uplifting and relaxing aroma, it neutralizes tobacco odor and smells like spring. Lilac was used as a vermifuge in 19th century America, also as a tonic anti-periodic and febrifuge and has been used as a substitute for aloe. Medically used as an early treatment of malaria. Lilac is found as a shrub or small tree. It can sprout up to twenty feet tall, though more commonly it is found as a four to five feet high shrub. It has many shoots and leaves that are usually heat shaped or ovate. Next to rose and jasmine, the Lilac fragrance is probably the perfume which is most frequently created by the perfumer from synthetic and natural raw materials. Up to now, the essential oil producing houses have been unable to offer true, natural oil, derived from lilac flowers and representing these flowers satisfactorily in odor effect. Only a few houses in Grasse, France offer materials which are said to be derived exclusively from lilac flowers. An absolute has been prepared from the flowers of lilac by hydrocarbon solvent extraction and subsequent alcohol extraction of the produced concrete. The essence of fresh lilacs is blended with magnolia leaves, heliotrope, and the subtle notes of the nectarine. Perfumed in a traditional French style, this is the best absolute lilac you will ever find. Lilac is the symbol of love and purification.
